Homemade Ginger Ale

Homemade ginger ale! It sounds like it would be hard, but it’s surprisingly easy! Moreover, this homemade version is devoid of some additional chemicals that you may find in grocery store pop. It’s also just super cool to say that you made ginger ale.

You can use this recipe as a blueprint for making any other flavored soda from blueberry to strawberry, even rhubarb if you want to be fancy! I hope this becomes a summertime favorite! Enjoy!

Instructions

  1. Step 1

Add water, sugar, and ginger to a large pot and simmer until sugar is dissolved and the mixture is syrupy.

  2. Step 2

Let it steep off the heat overnight (put it in the fridge once it cools off), then filter through a fine-mesh sieve. The syrup will last for up to 2 weeks in the fridge.

Take about 2 tablespoons of the syrup and mix it with sparkling water to make a glass of homemade ginger ale!

Note

You can make this even yummier by adding a squeeze of lime, lemon, and/or muddled fresh mint!

This is basically a ginger simple syrup so, theoretically, you could make blueberry simple syrup, strawberry simple syrup, or other flavors to make even more fresh sodas!
