Coconut Probiotic Yogurt 

This recipe is so easy, you almost wouldn’t believe it! But seriously, this is a wonderful, cheap way to make your own delicious plant yogurt that is stuffed full of probiotics. And in extension, you have the base for an almost endless array of breakfast options.  

This is also a fun science experiment to do with your kids as they watch the probiotics go to town on the coconut milk to create yogurt. Moreover, it’s an easy way to impress your friends as you can confidently say that you made the yogurt that they’re eating! I hope you enjoy your new favorite kitchen staple!

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Step 1

    Place coconut milk, probiotic powder, and syrup into a large, clean, glass jar and stir well. 

  2. Step 2

    Cover the jar with a cheesecloth or a piece of paper towel and use a rubber band to secure it.  

  3. Step 3

    Set the jar aside on your counter away from direct sunlight and let sit for two days. After two days, move to fridge and let sit overnight.  

  4. Step 4

    Take it out of the fridge and give it a good stir before serving!

Adaptations 

What’s awesome about this recipe is that you can doctor it up however you’d like! Add some fruit jam for a yummy swirl, put in vanilla and cinnamon for a comforting breakfast, or add lemon juice and lemon zest to make it taste like a coconut lemon cake—the options are endless!  

If you don’t like coconuts or can’t eat them, you can substitute them with any other type of full-fat plant milk. Do not try and substitute it with dairy milk, as that is a whole different process, and make sure your substitutions are full-fat!  

You can also use any probiotic brand of your choosing, just make sure to check it’s freshness!
